Our First Founder member Drinks
April 2012
Thank you to everyone that came along to our first Founder Member drinks evening on 9th February to celebrate planning permission being granted and prior to major works commencing. Those that had registered an interest in Founder Membership were invited to have a look around the building whilst enjoying drinks and nibbles including Jameson Irish mule cocktails, and mini hot dogs and chips. A big screen was erected in Studio 1, showing Charlie Chaplin’s classic ‘City Lights’ accompanied by live accordion playing from the wonderful Igor. Downstairs in Studio 2, footage of Jean Luc Godard’s movie ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ played, showing the Rolling Stones recording their eponymous track in the building. All the music played in the bar was recorded in the building; an eclectic mix including the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Queen, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix to name but a few. It was a shame it had to end, but as the drinks flowed, the snow fell, and a white blanket met our guests as they headed home - a perfect foil for the red carpet. We have had many enquiries as to whether there are any Founding Member places available, the answer to which is yes there are still a few. If you are interested or want to find out more, please email Hannah@olympiccinema.co.uk. Here is a link to benefits.
